The courtroom erupted with laughter after the judge’s remarks on the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leaders in Lahore during Jail Bharu Movement and the speech of the arrested workers’ lawyer.
In the Lahore High Court, a hearing was held on the petitions for the recovery and release of the leaders arrested during the Jail Bharu movement.
The court directed the public prosecutor to appear on Monday.
Justice Shahram Sarwar asked the lawyer of the arrested PTI workers, why have your people been arrested?
The petitioner’s counsel replied that we had started Jail Bharu movement.
Justice Shahram Sarwar asked why you are playing with the courts. You yourself were saying to arrest, now if you have arrested, is there any urgency?
The petitioner’s lawyer said that these were symbolic arrests, we are not seeking bail, we have come to court to protect their rights.
Laughter erupted in the court over the stand of the petitioner’s lawyer.
PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s son Zain Qureshi also appeared in the court who said that I was not arrested but my father was arrested, they are not allowing me to meet my father Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
Justice Shahram Sarwar said that go where Section 144 is in force, you will be caught and you will be met.
After Justice Shahram Sarwar’s remarks, the court room started laughing again.
Zain Qureshi said that if this happens then we will file a petition.
Justice Shahram Sarwar asked Zain Qureshi not to file the petition now.
The Supreme Court is hearing the petition for the recovery of PTI leaders arrested from Lahore.
