Peshawar: Peshawar High Court has issued a notice to the Attorney General of Pakistan and the Election Commission on the petition filed for elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa within 90 days and sought their response by February 28.
When the hearing of the case began, Advocate General Aamir Javed told the court that the President of Pakistan has announced the date of April 9, after which the writ has become ineffective.
Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim said that the President has given a date, it is a matter of whether it is implemented or not, but one date has come and another date cannot be given yet. They will ask if they follow the President’s orders or not.
Justice Arshad Ali said that now the President has given a date, two dates cannot be possible. We will now ask the Election Commission what will happen now, we have asked the Election Commission for a schedule and will give this schedule.
The lawyer of the Election Commission present in the court told the court that the President wrote a letter to the Election Commission and we did not consult but we disagreed, on which Justice Arshad Ali said that can the Election Commission disagree with the President in any way?
The court issued a notice to the Attorney General on the next appearance while also seeking a report from the Election Commission.
