Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab directed to ensure reduction in transport fares after reduction in petrol prices.

According to the details, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in which the issues related to the transport department were reviewed.

In a conversation with the participants of the meeting, Maryam Nawaz directed that the administration should reduce the fares of public transport in all districts and ensure its implementation. All other items affect the rate.

He said that he will give relief to the people by reducing the transport fare.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif asked for a 5-year plan for end-to-end transport in Lahore and also directed to approach the best international consultant for purple and blue line train in Lahore.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif was given a detailed briefing about 630 eco-friendly buses across the province and informed that 200 eco-friendly diesel high-brid buses are being brought to Lahore. 100 electric buses will be operated in Lahore as a pilot project while 100 eco-friendly buses are being brought to Multan, 78 to Rawalpindi, 42 to Bahawalpur and 110 to Faisalabad.

Transport Secretary Ahmed Javed Qazi gave a detailed briefing on the bikes project for students and said that after e-balloting of Chief Minister Youth Initiative bikes, scrutineering has been started.

Information Minister Uzma Zahid Bukhari, Provincial Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan, Chief Secretary, Secretary Transport, Secretary Higher Education, Commissioner Lahore, DGLDA and other officials participated in the meeting.
