Karachi: Regarding the sale of Gatka Mawa in Shahr Quaid, police sources say that this work is being done under the patronage of a very important political figure.
IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon’s task force is carrying out crackdowns against crimes allegedly under the auspices of the police in various areas. In this regard, a report has been sent to IG Sindh by raiding the factories of Gutka Mawa in the limits of Jackson, Etihad Town, Madina Colony and Azizabad among other police stations.
According to the spokesman, the task force headed by ASP Saad raided the Mawa Gutke factory allegedly under the patronage of the local police in Jackson police station and recovered 8,000 kilos of ready Mawa, while a man named Kashif escaped from the factory. It succeeded. Apart from this, the task force also conducted operations at the base of Imran Qadri, Amjad alias Dancer, Azeem Mota and Samu Ke Mawe in Madina Colony area.
Apart from this, action was also taken at Tariq Thibo’s base in Etihad Town area. The task force also conducted operations in Gulshan Iqbal and Azizabad areas.
The IG Sindh has given orders to the Karachi Police Chief to remove the concerned SHOs of the police stations allegedly sponsoring crimes. IG Sindh says that wherever the task force raids, the SHO should be removed. Organized crime includes drug, gatka mawa, gambling and prostitution dens. If the SHOs are found involved in the inquiry, they will be punished. Posting will not be given to officers conducting crimes.
On the other hand, police sources have said that SHO Jackson admitted to the Mawa factory in Jackson police station and the sale of Gutka Mawa in the area to the officers of IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon’s task force during the inquiry. I SSP Kemari also allegedly has information, but the said illegal businessmen have the patronage of a very important political figure, due to which they could not shut down their operations even if they wanted to.
He said during the inquiry that not only in Jackson but in all the police stations of district Kemari, a person named Mehmood, the direct assistant of this political figure, not only supervises but also collects this work. The inquiry team of the task force has sent the inquiry report made by the police officers to IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.
