Karachi: The Chief Justice Sindh High Court ordered strict measures to ensure law and order in Sindh including Karachi.

A provincial justice committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi regarding the bad law and order situation in various areas of the province including Karachi, Larkana, Sukkur, in which IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, DG Rangers Major. Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi expressed his indignation over the bad situation of street crime in Karachi and the kidnapping of citizens in Kacha. IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon gave a briefing to the Chief Justice on the bad situation in the slum areas including Karachi. DG Rangers, IG Sindh, DIGs and SSPs gave separate briefings and presented reports in the meeting on the disturbing law and order situation in the province.

Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi has asked the DIG Sukkur for a progress report within a week after completing the action against the dacoits. The Chief Justice Sindh High Court has ordered strict measures to control law and order in Karachi.

In the meeting which lasted for more than 4 and a half hours, the Chief Justice ordered the authorities that no concession should be made to anyone, no matter how powerful they are. Whoever disturbs the law and order should be brought to an end. Chief Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi ordered to improve the law and order situation throughout the province and submit a report within a month.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said that there were 3 points on the agenda of the meeting, there is the issue of street crime, safe city and raw material robbers in Karachi. The Chief Justice listened to our briefing and gave instructions. IG Sindh said that he has also given a briefing on the implementation of the court orders.

The IG said that there has been a discussion on increasing patrols to stop street crime in Karachi. There are many things that need to be improved in the criminal justice system, we have put forward our requests and suggestions.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon said that the important points regarding the investigation were discussed, the police will ensure that no false cases are made, thus the burden will be reduced. When the case is registered, the investigation is done and the accused are punished.

President Sindh High Court Bar Association Rehan Aziz Malik told the media after the meeting that DG Rangers gave a briefing in the meeting that they have police powers in the city and they are working. If the Rangers have police powers in Sindh as well, they will take action there as well. Rangers have powers in Karachi, but there has been no substantial improvement.

He said that the High Court Bar has recommended action against those who are buying stolen bikes and mobile phones. On the other hand, the Rangers spokesperson has denied that the DG Rangers has not spoken about the powers.
