Introduction of Motorcycle Ambulance in Sindh

Karachi: Emergency motorbikes equipped with life-saving medical equipment were introduced for the first time in Sindh after modern ambulances. The motorcycle ambulance will ensure timely delivery of first aid in case of accidents in traffic jams and narrow streets of the city.

According to the details, under the World Health Organization, the Health Department handed over 25 emergency bikes to the Sindh Integrated Emergency and Health Services (1122). Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz received 25 bikes equipped with modern medical equipment from WHO at EPI Center and handed them over to 1122.

Motorbike ambulances are equipped with fire extinguisher, mini medicine kit, emergency bag, oxygen mask, pulse oximeter, glucometer, oxygen cylinder key, nasal cannula, polyneck hard collar, stethoscope, CPR mask, nebulizer, dressing kit with With the assistance, the motorcycle ambulance will be able to reach the patient in 5 to 8 minutes and treat them or take the patient to the nearest ambulance after providing immediate first aid.

In case of emergency, the patient will not only be given first aid but also treated on the spot with life saving medicine, CBR equipment.

On this occasion, Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Saad Khalid Niaz said in a press conference that these devices and bikes will be used as a rapid response force for areas where there are no vehicles, through this the time response will increase.

He said that 1100 emergency bikes are required while the program currently has only 371 bikes.

The caretaker health minister recommended the World Health Organization to create its own accountability system, and monitor the supplies it provides so that the supplies are used in the right place.

The head of WHO Sindh Dr. Sara said that the paramedic staff will be trained for 15 days, in the beginning of April, the emergency medical technicians will regularly go out on the streets with these emergency bikes, while there will be training for 3 to 6 months. .
According to the 1122 authorities, the aim of the service is to reach the affected people in time in case of accidents or illness in traffic jams, narrow roads and difficult areas. He further said that in appearance these are normal heavy bikes but actually they are ambulances equipped with modern technology and medical facilities.
