The Little Shaheens won their first match in the Super 6 stage of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, the national team defeated Ireland by 3 wickets in the first match of the second stage.
Pakistan made a brilliant start against Ireland in the Super 6 stage match played in Puchstrom, South Africa.
Obaid Shah took the opponent’s first wicket for 7 runs and after that the Pakistani bowlers took the half-Irish team to the pavilion for 39 runs.
In this difficulty, John McNally of Ireland U-19 resisted and scored 53 runs while Harry Dare also played an innings of 31 runs but the team was bowled out for 181 runs.
On behalf of Pakistan U-19, Obaid Shah took three wickets while Amir Hassan, Ali Raza and Ahmed Hassan took two wickets each.
In pursuit of the target, the Pakistani openers returned to the pavilion for 26 runs and half the team got out by scoring 96 runs. In such a situation, Ahmed Hasan took over the team, Haroon Arshad supported him and both made a partnership of 63 runs.
Haroon was dismissed for 25 runs but Ahmed completed the target with the incoming batters in the 44th over to give Pakistan a three-wicket victory.
Ahmed remained not out by scoring 57 runs and for this performance he was declared the best player of the match.
In the Super 6 stage, Pakistan team will play their second and last match against Bangladesh on Saturday. In case of success in this match, the national team will reach the semi-finals.
