According to Express News, former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the rejection of nomination papers, in which the Election Commission and the Election Tribunal have been made parties.

Pervaiz Elahi has requested that the decision of Lahore High Court on 13 January 2024 be annulled. Based on the objections of the candidate Muhammad Salim, my nomination papers were rejected. An objection was raised against me that I have shares in Lahore Modern Flour Mills.

Pervez Elahi said that the accused flour mills are not only inactive but no bank account has been opened in his name, I have never bought the shares of this flour mill, inactive flour mill is not an asset.

It is stated in the petition that on the basis of this flour mill, I cannot be prevented from contesting the election, it is settled principle that every undisclosed asset cannot be disqualified, his intention behind non-disclosure of an asset is not sufficient. Must check.

Pervaiz Elahi has said that the total value of the shares being attributed to me is 24850 rupees, I have disclosed my total assets of 175 million rupees, in these assets, I have also disclosed more than 57 million rupees in cash. It’s gone, it can’t be called malice for me not to reveal such a small share.

He further said that it has also been objected that I have not disclosed seven arms licences, there is no column for disclosing arms licenses in the nomination papers.
