Karachi: The teachers’ association has demanded an investigation from the caretaker chief minister on the alleged viral video of the vice chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur.

In the academic history of Sindh, a surprising and fresh case of a video containing indecent acts has come to light, and the alleged indecent video of the vice chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, Dr. Khalil Abupoto, on social media has spread outrage in the academic circles of Sindh. .

After the alleged scandalous video of the vice chancellor went viral, the echo of the issue that started with the teachers and employees of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur has now reached the Chief Minister’s house.

Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPWASA) Pakistan General Secretary and President of Shah Latif University Teachers Association Professor Dr. Akhtar Ali Ghamro and Secretary of the Association Professor Dr. Hussamuddin Sheikh brought this issue to the attention of the caretaker minister. Sindh Chief Justice (Rtd) Maqbool Baqir has demanded an immediate investigation by removing the vice chancellor from the post.

On the other hand, it is also learned that the deans of the university have told the teachers that if the chief minister does not take immediate notice of the matter, they will not attend any meeting to be held under the chairmanship of the vice-chancellor from Monday.

The General Secretary of FAPWASA and the President of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Dr. Ghamro confirmed the intention of the university deans in a conversation with “Express” and said that he also received some such written messages from some deans on social media. have been received while the Danes are also writing letters to the Chief Minister House on Monday.

He further said that the alleged video of the Vice-Chancellor has come to light 3 days ago, after which the situation of the university is not better. In the interim, remove Dr. Abupoto from this position.

In this regard, in a letter written to the Sindh Chief Minister, the controlling authority of public universities of the province, the president and general secretary of the Anjuman Utsari have taken a stand that they should take serious and immediate notice of the alleged inappropriate video of the vice chancellor because this video shows Shah Abdul Latif. The reputation of Khairpur University has been severely damaged in which the Vice Chancellor is apparently involved.

The letter further said that this viral video has raised serious questions on the leadership of the universities which is a serious threat to the reputation of the institutions. There are serious reservations about this.

In the letter, the Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh has been demanded to conduct an immediate and impartial investigation into the matter to restore public confidence in the universities.
It should be noted that this is the last year of the term of office of the Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur, Dr. Khalil Abuputto, who came under severe criticism for the alleged Nazeeba video. His term of office will be completed in October 2024. During the tenure of the government, the search was done on the recommendation of the committee.

Express contacted the vice chancellor to know his stand on the matter, on which he received a message to contact the PRO of the university. When the PRO of the university was contacted in this regard, he said that the Vice-Chancellor in his ongoing video message has declared the video as fake and has said that the video has been created using technology.

The PRO further said that there are many people involved from inside and outside this university who are asking the Vice-Chancellor to accommodate them in the style of the previous administration. He said that the Vice-Chancellor has also filed an application in the FIA ​​Cybercrime against all those involved.

An attempt was made to contact Sindh Chief Minister Rashid Chana’s spokesperson to know the position of the Sindh government in this regard, but no response was received from him.
