Rawalpindi: Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Khan has said that nomination papers are being taken away from our candidates.
Talking to the media outside Adiala Jail, he said that the election has been announced, we want the election to be held on time. Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s nomination papers have been taken away from his secretary in Adiala Jail. If the nomination papers are taken away from people, the impression of fair and transparent election will be lost.
He said that the founder will sign the nomination papers from PTI tomorrow. I was not allowed to carry plain paper into the jail today. The Election Commission should ensure that the elections will be fair and transparent. Founder PTI will contest elections from Mianwali, Lahore and Islamabad.
Barrister Gohar Khan said that Nawaz Sharif always plays together with the umpire, this time our candidates are not being allowed to enter the field. We have always demanded that elections should be held on time. We do not want the Election Commissioner to be removed at this time nor is this our demand. We fear that if our people are stopped, the situation will worsen. We don’t want things to get worse.
Chairman PTI further said that consultation with founder PTI is going on regarding tickets, it may take more time.
Meanwhile, Barrister Ali Zafar while talking to the media outside Adiala Jail said that PTI founder has directed some messages to be conveyed to the public. Sad news is coming from all over Pakistan. Wherever our candidates are going to submit their nomination papers, the papers are being taken from them. We have decided to take this matter to the courts. Taking away nomination papers from candidates is not a reflection of free and fair elections.
According to Barrister Ali Zafar, we stand with the Supreme Court regarding the conduct of elections. Stability in the country is possible only after the election. Democracy will be damaged if PTI is not marked to the bat. The Election Commission is requested to take a decision on the election symbol of PTI. The decision of the Toshakhana case is also expected to come soon from the Islamabad High Court. Hope we get justice from the courts.
