The 18th annual International Book Fair in Karachi will begin on December 14

Karachi: Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association is organizing a unique international fair ‘Karachi International Book Fair 2023’ from 14th to 18th December in Shahr Qaid, like every year.

The International Book Fair is being held at the Karachi Expo Center in the heart of Shahr Quaid, in which more than 330 stalls will be set up this year. About 40 institutions from 17 countries are participating in this international book fair, while renowned publishers from all over Pakistan will also set up their stalls.

According to the organizers of the fair, the arrival of more than four lakh people is expected this year. According to the organizers, it is expected that caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (R) Maqbool Baqir will inaugurate the book fair, while caretaker provincial minister for information, social affairs and protection and president of Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah will be the guest of honor.

Organized continuously since 2005, Karachi International Book Fair also has the honor of being the largest trade fair of Pakistan, which not only from all over Pakistan but also from India, Turkey, Singapore, China, Malaysia, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates and others. Countries’ publishing houses also participate.

The fair brings together publishers, distributors, domestic and foreign publishers, librarians and users on one platform. Karachi International Book Fair convener Ruqar Mateen informed the journalists about the details of this international fair in a press conference held at a local hotel on Monday.

On this occasion, Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association Chairman Aziz Khalid, Convener Waqar Mateen Khan, Deputy Convener Nasir Hussain, Nadeem Mazhar, M. Iqbal Ghaziani, Iqbal Saleh Muhammad, Nadeem Akhtar, Kamran Noorani, and Saleem Abdul Hussain, Saad Bin Aziz, Asghar Zaidi and Owais Mirza Jameel were also present.

Waqar Mateen said that this world fair held every year has been the center of special attention of millions of students, parents, literary and teaching personalities and people from different walks of life across Pakistan.

Waqar Mateen expressed his special thanks to the publishers participating in this world fair, due to which this book fair has been able to continue its success and is attended by a record breaking number of people every year.

Addressing the press conference, Chairman of Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association Aziz Khalid Sahib said that such book fairs are no longer just ordinary fairs nor do they provide a simple platform to publishers. Rather, book fairs like the Karachi International Book Fair in the present era highlight the positive aspects of Pakistan.

Aziz Khalid said that the current edition of Karachi International Book Fair will be unique compared to all previous events in which professional expertise and other issues will also be exchanged through this international book fair.

Chairman Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association emphasized that by organizing the Karachi Book Fair, we teach values, humanity, regionalism and civilization to our society. The purpose of Karachi International Book Fair is to make Pakistani youth and students believe that they will play a fundamental role in the development of their country and nation by acquiring knowledge in various arts and fields.

According to a careful estimate, more than four lakh people are expected to participate in this World Book Fair, in which various book launch events will also be held.

The opening ceremony of the World Book Fair will be held on Thursday, December 14, while public admission hours from the first day will be from 10 am to 9 pm, which will continue until Monday, December 18.
