3 years imprisonment, 30 thousand rupees fine for Christian youth for second marriage

Karachi: Judicial Magistrate Sharqi imposed 3 years imprisonment and 30 thousand rupees fine on the husband for remarrying at the request of the wife under the Christian Marriage Act.

In the Karachi City Court, the court of Judicial Magistrate Sharqi ruled against the husband on the petition of the wife under the Christian Marriage Act for remarriage. The court has also ordered the accused Joshua to be imprisoned for 3 years and fined 30,000 for second marriage with his first wife.

The petitioner’s lawyer Salim Michael Advocate had stated that under the Christian Marriage Act, the husband cannot perform marriage on marriage.

According to the police, a case was also registered against the accused Joshua at the Mehmoodabad police station on the request of the first wife.
