Justice retired Maqbool Baqir could not live up to the expectations of the people as a judge
Karachi: Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir has said that unfortunately, the relationship between the bar and the bench has been cold for the past few years.
He said that the lack of coordination between the bar and the bench affects not only us but the entire system, we all should strive to improve the relationship between the bar and the bench and ensure that the bar and the bench Can face all challenges.
He expressed these views while addressing the annual dinner ceremony of Karachi Bar Association. High court judges, district and session judges, judicial officers and a large number of lawyers participated in the ceremony.
Caretaker Chief Minister Sindh Justice Retired Maqbool Baqir said that as Chief Justice of Sindh High Court and Justice of Supreme Court I could not fulfill your expectations which you and the people expected from us.
He said that unfortunately for the last few years the relationship between the bar and the bench has been cold. The lack of coordination between the bar and the bench affects not only us but the entire justice system in which we are all stakeholders.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that even today there are many threats to the independent judiciary, some threats are internal while some are external. The assignment split the Supreme Court. This division grew to such an extent that people’s confidence in the Supreme Court was affected.
He said that due to the previous Chief Justices not reforming the structure of the benches, Parliament had to do this work. It is gratifying that the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Isa Faiz, by implementing this law of the Parliament, has formed a committee of senior judges who are performing the duties of forming benches and deciding cases.
