Karachi: In Korangi Bilal Colony area of Shahr Quaid, Hafiz Qur’an killed an elderly woman out of greed and hid the body in the drum of the house.
According to the details, a 5-6-day-old tortured body of an elderly woman was recovered from a drum inside a house in Bilal Colony, Pakhtun Khan Chowk Street No. 3 of Korangi Industrial Area. The youth was arrested.
The police shifted the body of the victim to Jinnah Hospital for post-mortem.
In this regard, SHO Obaidullah Khan said that the victim was identified as 60-year-old Zahida Bibi, while the arrested accused, 24-year-old Zia-ur-Rehman, is a Hafiz Quran reciter and also works as a Dum Durood.
He said that the accused disclosed in the initial investigation that Zahida Bibi had gone to Zia-ul-Rehman last Saturday to be sacrificed and during that time she was wearing gold earrings and a chain. After killing him by hitting him on the head with a hammer, the body was put on a drum in the house.
He said that Noorul Salam, the husband of the victim, had reported to the police that his wife was missing, who had gone to Zia-ul-Rehman’s place to die, which he brought with him to the police. While confessing to the murder, he pointed to another house where he called Zahida Bibi to die and there he killed her and hid her body in a drum.
The husband of the deceased was also searched in the house where the accused lived, but his wife was not found there. SHO Obaidullah further said that the accused had sold the victim’s 2 gold earrings and a gold chain to a jeweler in Landhi for one and a half lakh, on the basis of which the arrest was strengthened.
However, the police registered a case and handed over the accused to the investigation police.
