If the trial is not completed within 2 years, the accused is entitled to bail, Supreme Court

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has declared that if the trial is not completed within 2 years, the accused is entitled to bail.

In hearing the case regarding bail, the Supreme Court has issued an important decision, in which it has been said that under the Criminal Code, if the trial is not completed for 2 years, the accused is entitled to bail.

According to the decision issued by Justice Athar Minullah, delay in the trial is discouraged in the Criminal Code. Bail cannot be granted again based on the same reasons on the basis of which the bail application is rejected. And if a bail application made in court on any ground is dismissed on the ground of withdrawal, no bail application can be made again on the same ground.

The Supreme Court said in the judgment that bail can be granted on the ground of delay in the trial.

Later, the court accepted the bail application of Muhammad Usman, the accused arrested in the murder incident, against a bond of 2 lakh rupees.
