Peshawar: The court sought a response from the government for barring the PTI leader from going abroad.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice SM Atiq Shah of Peshawar High Court heard the petition filed against the detention of former provincial minister and leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Shaukat Yousafzai at the airport.

During the hearing, the lawyer of the petitioner Syed Sikander Hayat Shah told the court that former provincial minister Shaukat Yousafzai was on his way to Umrah and was stopped at the airport.

Justice Ijaz Anwar inquired whether his name is in the ECL or stop list, the lawyer replied that his name is neither in the ECL nor in the stop list. They were illegally detained. They were cleared by all agencies, later offloaded from the plane.

The court remarked that while going for Umrah, the government should submit its reply within a week.

Justice SM Atiq Shah asked that Shaukat Yousafzai had held a press conference?, to which the lawyer replied that he did not hold a press conference, that is why all this is happening.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing till December 25, seeking a response from the government.
