Karachi: Sindh government started strict action against profiteers.

Chief Secretary Sindh has established district monitoring committees under the leadership of secretaries. The committees will be able to impose fines ranging from 30 thousand to 5 lakhs. To provide relief to the people, the Sindh government has decided to set up cheap markets.

According to the details, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput regarding price control of essential goods in the province.

Secretary Interior Saeed Ahmed Mangrijo, Commissioner Karachi Muhammad Iqbal Memon, Secretary Industry Abdul Rasheed Solangi, Secretary Information Asif Ikram, Secretary Food and Secretary Agriculture and others participated in the meeting, all divisional commissioners participated in the meeting through video link.

In the meeting, the Chief Secretary said that profiteering and hoarding will not be tolerated under any circumstances, committees have been established in all districts headed by secretaries, Divisional Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, SSPs, Deputy Food Control and Bureau and Supply. The Deputy Director will be the committee members.

The committee will look into measures to control prices, supply essential commodities and prevent hoarding in the districts.

According to the notification issued on the instructions of the Chief Secretary, Secretary Industries Abdul Rasheed Solangi District East, Iqbal Anjum Jumani District West, Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Syed Najam Ahmad Shah District South and Secretary Labor Laeeq Ahmad District Central, Secretary Environment Agha Wasif District Korangi, Secretary Forests Badr. Jameel Mendharu District Malir, Secretary IT Asif Ikram will head the price monitoring committee of Kemari district, Chief Secretary said that the district administration should visit flour mills and ghee mills.

Strict action should be taken wherever there is hoarding, he said that in every tehsil, thrift markets will be set up by the government in Ramadan, supply of essential goods at cheap prices will be ensured in the thrift stores, the government will provide the public at the official rate. The cheap flour given to the government will be sold at a discounted price in thrift markets, Chief Secretary Sindh said in the meeting that the existing price control law will be amended, more powers will be given to the price control inspector.

The fine for profiteers and hoarders will be increased from 30,000 to 5 lakhs, shop for profiteers and hoarders will be sealed and all goods will be auctioned at the government price, he added that the section officer and other government officials. will also be given powers of price checking in Ramadan, a committee has been set up to prepare a draft to amend the existing price control law, the committee includes Secretary Home, Secretary Agriculture, Commissioner Karachi and Commissioner Hyderabad.
