Pakhtunkhwa;  Notice issued to IG and DC for not allowing PTI rally

Peshawar: Notices were issued to IG Pakhtunkhwa and DC Mansehra for not allowing the rally to PTI.

A 2-member bench of Peshawar High Court, comprising Justice Ejaz Anwar and Justice SM Atiq Shah, heard the contempt petition filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf for not allowing workers’ convention and meetings.

The court issued a notice to the I Aji Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Deputy Commissioner Mansehra and sought their response at the next hearing.

During the hearing, the petitioner’s lawyer Shah Faisal Atman Khel Advocate told the court that PTI applied to the administration for workers’ convention in Mansehra but we were not given permission. Despite court orders, PTI was not allowed to hold a workers’ convention in Mansehra.

AAG Daniyal Chamkani told the court that the Deputy Commissioner sent a request to the DPO for verification and the DPO did not give permission, on which Justice Ijaz Anwar remarked that they were not holding a rally on the road. They wanted to hold a meeting in the compound, then why they did not give permission. The court had allowed that if they wanted to hold a convention, meeting in a closed place, they could do so.

In the petition filed in the court, it was held that there was a convention on November 5 and an application was made to the Deputy Commissioner on October 30 to grant permission. The administration did not allow the convention. At night, the stage was demolished and the chairs were also taken away.

The court issued a notice to the IG and Deputy Commissioner Mansehra, sought their response and adjourned the hearing till November 21.
