Decision reserved on request to remove Shakeel Afridi's wife's name from ECL

Peshawar: The Peshawar High Court has reserved its decision on Dr. Shakeel Afridi’s request to remove the name of his Pakistani-American wife from the ECL.

According to Express News, the Peshawar High Court heard a petition filed against Dr. Shakeel’s Pakistani-American wife Imrana Shakeel’s name being included in the ECL.

The petitioner’s counsel said that the names of Imrana Shakeel and her children have been put in the EC, there is no charge against the petitioner, yet her and children’s names are kept in the list.

The Deputy Attorney General said that the caretaker government does not have enough powers, the new government will look into his case when it comes, the security agencies have directed to keep his name in the EC.

Justice Abdul Shakoor said that the security agencies will say and you will put a servant in ECL? Security agencies do not have this authority, there is no reason to put the name on the ECL and the name has been put.

Later, the court reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of the parties.

It should be remembered that Dr. Shakeel Afridi is accused of confirming the presence of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad and giving this information to the American CIA.
