Karachi: An 8-year-old girl died as a result of a speeding car hitting a parked rickshaw near Golestan Johar Perfume Chowk, while her mother and the rickshaw driver were injured.
According to the details, the accident took place near Golestan Johar Perfume Chowk within the limits of Shariah Faisal Police Station, the dead girl and the injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital by hidden ambulances.
According to the police, the dead girl was identified as 8-year-old Ayesha daughter of Sajjad, while the injured include 45-year-old mother of the deceased girl Ayesha, wife of Sajjad, and 45-year-old rickshaw driver Ghulam Abbas son of Manzoor Ahmed.
The deceased girl and her mother, Malir 15, are residents of Abadiya opposite Malir Court, while the injured rickshaw driver is a resident of Sarjani Town. Deceased Ayesha was the youngest among 3 brothers and two sisters, while her father is a car mechanic, but he does not live with his mother and lives elsewhere.
The deceased’s brother said that her sister’s condition was bad, mother had taken her to Golestan Johar doctor, on her return, Ayesha said that she was feeling hungry, on which mother stopped a rickshaw outside a hotel near Perfume Chowk and went to the hotel. After calling the employee and ordering food, she was waiting when a fast car driven by a woman came and hit the standing rickshaw.
The rickshaw driver who was injured in the accident said that the female driver responsible for the accident had a child sitting on her lap while driving. They were taken away in a police mobile.
Sub-inspector Khalid, the duty officer of Shariah Faisal police station, said that the woman responsible for the accident had fled from the spot. The responsible car number ABY-166 is Islamabad registration and is clear in the records while as per CPLC records the car bearing the said number is Toyota Corolla Model 1998 registered in the name of Muhammad Naseer.
SHO Sharia Faisal Inspector Raja Tariq Mehmood said that the woman responsible for the accident had a foster child with her, with the presence and consent of the heirs of the deceased girl, the woman was released on personal bail as per the law. And what is binding is that both the parties should talk to each other and settle the matter otherwise a case will be filed according to law.
