Prime Minister removed SSP Qamber Shahdad for not taking action against electricity thieves

Karachi: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed his anger over not cracking down on electricity thieves in Sindh and ordered the removal of SSP Qamber Shahdad Kot Asif Raza Baloch.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar regarding crackdown, arrests and further progress against electricity thieves. The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Ministry of Power and Energy and power distribution companies, chief secretaries of provinces, IGs and other stakeholders.

During the meeting, Secretary Energy complained that SSP Qamber Shahdadkot is not cracking down on electricity thieves and is not cooperating with the relevant institutions, on which Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar Haq Kakar expressed his anger. By ordering the removal of Asif Raza Baloch from the post, he ordered to submit a report to Balochistan.

The Ministry of Electricity and Energy had also expressed displeasure over the performance of Mirpur Khas in the last meeting. After the meeting presided over by the Caretaker Prime Minister, an emergency meeting was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar Raja, in which a full crackdown was decided against electricity thieves across Sindh.

DIGs and SSPs of Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Nawabshah range attended the meeting. In the meeting, IG Sindh Rafat Mukhtar Raja expressed his displeasure over the performance of SSP Qamber Shahdad Kot, while ordering other SSPs to crackdown on electricity thieves.
