Karachi: The situation of Urdu University has become interesting, after the court decision, there will be no vice chancellor from today.
The situation has become interesting after the court suspended the notification of appointment of Acting Vice Chancellor of Federal Urdu University. The Sindh High Court has suspended the October 5 notification of the appointment of Dr. Rubina Mushtaq, acting vice-chancellor of the university, but suspended the notification issued on October 5 on the same day regarding the removal of the retired former acting vice-chancellor, Dr. Ziauddin. No orders have been issued, due to which there will be no vice chancellor in the Federal Urdu University from Tuesday and legal and educational experts say that the university will be without a head until a new court order.
It should be noted that the court, while issuing an interim order on the petition filed by Dr. Mohammad Sarim, has suspended the notification of appointment of Dr. Rubina Mushtaq as Acting Vice-Chancellor by the Federal Ministry of Education on October 5, 2023, and has given the relevant parties 21 November hearing notices have been issued.
It should be remembered that the Federal Ministry of Education had issued two separate notifications on October 5 regarding the dismissal of Dr. Zia from the post of Vice-Chancellor and the appointment of Dr. Rubina Mushtaq as Vice-Chancellor, while the court has suspended only one notification. Sources also say that in the light of this court decision, after the suspension of Dr. Rubina Mushtaq’s appointment notification as acting vice chancellor issued on October 5, all the notifications issued with her administrative and financial approval can also be considered suspended. Further work of the officers in the post of registrar and treasurer from Tuesday may also be in question.
