Peshawar: Sewage samples from Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were once again contaminated with polio virus.

The National Institute of Health Islamabad has confirmed the presence of polio virus in the environmental samples of Peshawar’s Narekhor area. This is the 15th environmental sample taken from Peshawar this year which has been found positive.

According to the National Institute of Health, the genetic link of the polio virus diagnosed is from the Nazian region of Afghanistan. An anti-polio campaign has also been organized in Peshawar from October 2 to 8 to administer polio vaccine to children.

It should be remembered that this year 3 polio cases have been reported from across the country and all three infected cases have been reported from Bannu district.
