Karachi: Due to limited availability of fuel, 24 domestic and international flights of PIA were canceled on Wednesday.
According to the sources, 24 domestic and foreign flights were canceled during the air operations of the national airline on Wednesday, while 26 flights left for their destination after supplying fuel.
A payment of Rs 15 crore was made by PIA to PSO on Wednesday. According to the sources, 44 PIA flights were canceled during Duroz (October 17/18), around 6,000 passengers were affected during air travel through these flights.
Passengers of 4 thousand international and 2 thousand domestic flights faced difficulties due to the cancellation of flights. Due to the recent crisis, PIA has devised an alternative strategy, now operating flights on these routes will be fueled, which are profitable.
According to the sources, low-level flights will be avoided in terms of business, while priority and profitable flights include routes to Saudi Arabia, Canada, Turkey and Gulf countries.
