Teachers strike in Karachi University;  The teaching process remained suspended

Karachi: The teaching process was completely suspended on the second day of the strike on the appeal of the teachers’ association on the case against the new lecturer in the University of Karachi.

The teaching process remained suspended on the second day of the 4-day strike by the teachers’ association in University of Karachi. Officers, employees and student organizations expressed solidarity with the teachers.

All selected associations and organizations of officers and employees participated on this occasion and declared the teachers’ selection board and financial issues as a common problem of the entire university.

Trustee of the Teachers Association, Dr. Faizan-ul-Hasan Naqvi, mentioned the seriousness of the situation and the malice behind the non-existence of a selection board and entrapment of public information teachers in judicial circles.

He said that for the last four years, the Teachers’ Association has been standing side by side in every struggle of employees and officers related to leave encashment, promotion of employees, pay fixation, retired director and today’s meeting is a manifestation of this unity.

Iftikhar Ahmad, president of Insaafsand Group, urged to continue the protest and to form a joint committee in this regard, Munir Baloch, Trustee of United Officers, Waqar Ali of Employees Ittehad, Ambassador of Vice of Center, Naseer Ahmed of Joint Group, United Officer. K Jalis Ahmed also agreed on joint struggle.

Apart from this, the representatives of Islami Jamiat Talaba, APMSO, Pakhtun Student Council, Balochistan Student Front and other student organizations also expressed their solidarity with the demands of the teachers.

It should be noted that yesterday, a strike was held in Karachi University over the holding of the selection board and the demand to withdraw the case against the new lecturers who were recruited under 2014 by the Department of Public Information last month.
