Karachi: Customs intelligence foiled an attempt to smuggle valuable iPhones through a handicap push at Jinnah Terminal Arrivals.
According to the details, according to the Customs spokesperson, 39 iPhones worth Rs 3 crore 70 lakh were recovered from the passenger coming from Dubai on flight EK 600.
He said that a passenger named Saleem pretended to be disabled and used the green channel on a wheelchair while the passenger was trying to leave the lounge with iPhones strapped to his body.
According to the Customs spokesperson, the authorities conducted a physical search of the passenger on suspicion that duties and taxes worth Rs. 70 lakh were being evaded through smuggling of iPhones.
According to the authorities, a case was registered and the passenger was arrested while the iPhones were confiscated.
