Balochistan went back several years due to last year's floods, caretaker chief minister

Quetta: Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki has said that due to last year’s floods, the province went back several years and due to this the development process was severely affected.

Addressing a meeting of the Policy and Strategy Committee between the Government of Pakistan and international aid agencies on rehabilitation activities after the last year’s flood disaster, the Caretaker Chief Minister said that the loss of more than 700 billion rupees was caused by the flood last year.

He said that after Sindh, Balochistan was the worst affected by the flood and the majority of people in different districts of the province are still living in poverty.

Mir Ali Mardan Khan Domki said that 3 lakh 21 thousand 19 houses were completely destroyed by flood while 96 thousand 166 houses were partially affected, 43 bridges were washed away and 2 thousand 280 km road network was destroyed.

The Caretaker Chief Minister said that 1,039 educational institutions were completely destroyed while 1,793 were partially affected.
