Karachi: PIA’s generosity, the ownership of a hotel in Larkana worth over one billion was given to the Sindh government free of charge.

It has been revealed that the PIA-owned Sambara Inn hotel in Larkana was handed over to the Sindh government outside of the rules and regulations. In the Auditor General of Pakistan’s works department audit for 2021-22, the department estimated the construction cost of the hotel at ₹60.754 million.

The appraiser approved by the State Bank stated the market value of the hotel at 1 billion 15 crores in December 2020. According to the report, the possession of the hotel was given to the provincial government against the interest of the airline on the verbal instructions of the superior officer. The hotel was handed over to the Sindh government without any compensation. done

The auditors informed the management in 2022 of neglecting the airline’s commercial interests, determining liability and submitting a report to the audit after an inquiry, to take back the hotel in view of the property title being passed to PIA. As a possible procedure, the Aviation Ministry should take up the matter in the Council of Common Interests.

The National Airlines Authority has replied to the auditors that PIA is the legal owner of the property and has all relevant property documents, the case is being followed up by the Aviation Division.
