Confirmation of poliovirus in environmental samples from Peshawar and Dera Bugti

Islamabad: The spokesman of the Ministry of Health has said that polio virus has been confirmed in environmental samples in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Dera Bugti district of Balochistan.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Health while confirming the polio virus said that the virus found in the sample is genetically similar to the virus found in Afghanistan.

It should be noted that evidence of polio virus was found in the sewage of Peshawar and Pishin area of ​​Balochistan even before this.
