Cement consumption was down by 4 percent in September, while in the first quarter of the current fiscal year, it was 23 percent higher than the first quarter of the previous fiscal year.
According to All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), the total consumption of cement in September was 41 lakh 15 thousand metric tons.
In September, 3.544 thousand metric tons of cement was consumed domestically and 5.70 thousand tons were exported.
Cement consumption during July to September was 1.18 lakh tonnes. Out of which more than one crore tons was used locally and more than 17 lakh tons of cement was exported.
According to the spokesperson of APCMA, Pakistan has the capacity to export cement, but to achieve this goal, duties and taxes need to be reduced. 5% import duty is levied on cement fuel coal.
