Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has announced that it will send the first female astronaut Riyana Barnawi on a space mission.
According to Saudi media, Saudi Arabia’s 10-day space mission AX-2 will be launched in the middle of this year. The most special thing about this space mission is that for the first time, Saudi Arabia’s first female astronaut will also go into space.
This space mission of Saudi Arabia will depart from the Kennedy Space Center in the US state of Florida, in which the first Saudi female astronaut Riana Barnawi will be accompanied by the astronaut Ali Al-Qarni.
It should be noted that this is not the first space mission of Saudi Arabia. In 2018, Saudi Arabia launched a space program and sent astronauts into space last year.

Earlier, in 1985, Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman became the first Arab Muslim to travel in space by participating in a space mission organized by the United States. Saudi princes were also air force pilots.
However, sending the first female Saudi astronaut into space is a unique event in conservative Saudi Arabia, which is part of the modern reforms under Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s Vision 2030, in which women are being empowered against tradition.
