Karachi: Pakistan made it to the semi-finals of the Global Veterans Cup cricket tournament.
In the over 40 international event, Pakistan defeated Canada by 78 runs to reach the semi-finals with their 5th consecutive victory. Batting first at the National Stadium, Pakistan veterans scored 312 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the stipulated 45 overs.
Former Test all-rounder Abdul Razzaq, who led in the absence of captain Misbah-ul-Haq, played an aggressive innings of 70 runs off 43 balls with the help of 5 fours and 6 sixes.
Rizwan Aslam scored 47 runs, former Test cricketer Hasan Raza 42, Amjad Ali 33 and Junaid Naini Talwala scored 31 runs, Ali Farooq, Iqbal Kasmil and Sultan Malik took 2 wickets each.
In pursuit of the target, the Canadian team scored 234 runs, Utma Ram Prasud’s unbeaten 61 and Ayaz Ali’s 47 runs went in vain, Hasan Raza dismissed 2 players. USA defeated Australia by 77 runs at Karachi Gymkhana Ground.
The highlight of the match was Ajay Sharma’s 5 wickets of the failed team. West Indies defeated Nepal by 8 wickets at NBP Sports Complex, Nepal’s Robin Joshi played an innings of 97 runs.
