Washington: US President Joe Biden and other leaders expressed their concern about the killing of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G20 summit this month.
According to the report of the Financial Times, the US, UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand had raised the issue of the killing of Sikh separatist leader Hardeep Singh in British Columbia with Modi.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the Financial Times report. It should be noted that the Prime Minister of Canada had claimed India’s involvement in the killing of a Sikh leader in Parliament a week after attending the G20 summit held in India.
The leaders reportedly intervened at the G20 summit after Canada urged its allies to take up the matter directly with Narendra Modi.
Earlier, US National Security Adviser Jack Sullivan said that Washington is in high-level contact with India after Ottawa’s claims about the killing of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada, and that Washington has not given India any “specialty” in the matter. Not giving “exemption”.
