Non-payment of fees to University of Karachi; Teachers also boycott morning classes after evening

Karachi: The tension between the teachers and the management in University of Karachi has become worst, the Anjuman Utsari University of Karachi has boycotted the classes of the morning program for non-payment of evening fees.

In this regard, Chancellor Professor Dr. Khalid Iraqi said that the economic conditions of the country are very serious, students are not able to pay the fees, the fund of HEC is limited, despite this, we have spent 11.5 million rupees in one year for the evening program fees. I have paid while asking the teachers to take classes and the payment will be made gradually.

The Vice-Chancellor said that every year these teachers take crores of rupees from the funds of the evening program in the form of leven encashment, then how to pay the compensation on time.

It has been learned that the quorum was not complete when the resolution to boycott morning classes was passed in the meeting. Many teachers including Dr. Asim Ali of Computer Science, Dr. Hajra of Biochemistry, Asma Hanif of Psychology Department also opposed this decision.

On the other hand, in the statement of the teachers’ association, it has been said that among the points which were approved by the meeting with a large majority at the end, this meeting confirms the ongoing boycott in the evening program. From payment to closure of Selection Boards Hospital Panel, increase in salaries announced as per budget, all issues are pending, evening gratuities should be paid in full and immediately, selection boards should be held immediately, panel hospitals should be restored without delay M.Phil. / PhD fee exemption should be restored immediately.
