Peshawar: Wild polio virus has been confirmed in the sewage system of Peshawar and Pishin, the presence of polio virus has been confirmed in 24 environmental samples so far this year.
According to Express News, polio virus was found in the sewage of Narekhor area of Peshawar. A sample for polio test was taken from the sewage of Narekhor on September 5. The polio virus present in the sewage of Peshawar is genetically related to Nangarhar.
Polio virus is also present in the sewage of Terwa area of Pishin, the sample for polio test was taken from the sewage of Pishin on September 4, the polio virus found in the sewage of Pishin has been reported to be genetically related to Kandahar.
