Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has approved the release of funds for salaries to the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills.
In the meeting of the ICC presided over by the caretaker Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, a briefing was given on the economic decimals and inflation by the Minister of Planning.
During the meeting, the employees of Pakistan Steel Mills were directed to pay the first six months salary from the budget. Officials of the Ministry of Finance told the participants that a budget of 10 billion rupees has been allocated for the steel mills in the current financial year, the salaries of the employees will be paid on a monthly basis.
The summary of financing rates of the Ministry of Energy has been postponed till the next meeting.
The Economic Coordination Committee also called for a report on stocks and consumption of food items including wheat and sugar while directing to control profiteering.
During the meeting, the Ministry of Food Security has been instructed to submit a report on the prices of important commodities and to monitor the wholesale and retail prices of food grains through the chief secretaries.
