Colombo: The worst defeat India inflicted on Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup was never seen before in the final match of any ODI tournament.

Batting first, Sri Lanka were all out for just 50 runs in 15.2 overs in the final of the Asia Cup 2023 played in Colombo on Sunday, in response to which India reached the target without losing 263 balls in 6.1 overs. .

This is India’s biggest win and Sri Lanka’s worst defeat in terms of balls remaining in the innings. This was the lowest score by any team against India in ODI cricket. Earlier in 2014, the Sri Lankan team was bowled out for 58 runs in Mirpur ODI.

During the match, Indian fast bowler Mohammad Siraj became the fourth bowler to take 4 wickets in an over in ODI history thanks to his devastating bowling. Mohammad Siraj took 6 wickets by giving 21 runs in seven overs in this match.

This is the best performance by any Indian bowler so far. Earlier, Indian bowler Arshad Ayub took 5 wickets for 21 runs in 9 overs against Pakistan in Dhaka in 1988.

Pakistan’s fast bowler Aqib Javed has also shown his best performance by taking 5 wickets for 19 runs against India in Sharjah in 1995.

In this match, Mohammad Siraj also equaled the record of former Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Vas for taking 5 wickets in one innings in ODI cricket.

Mohammad Siraj took five wickets in just 16 balls while Chaminda Was also took five wickets in just 16 balls against Bangladesh in 2003 World Cup.
