Islamabad: After successful negotiations with the Afghan government, Pakistan has announced the reopening of the Torkham border after eight days from today.

According to details, the Torkham border was closed 8 days ago when construction was being done near the border on the Afghan territory, during which there was also an exchange of fire between the security forces.

Later, Pakistan completely closed the Torkham border, after which the land route was completely cut off and traffic on foot including trucks was stopped.

Torkham Border Affairs In-charge Ismatullah Yaqoob confirmed the re-opening of the border to The Express Tribune and said that the gate will be opened as usual from 8 am on Friday, after which transit and passenger movement will begin. will

Sources revealed that Islamabad had made the reopening conditional on the withdrawal of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants from Chitral district. According to sources, the outlawed TTP has completely retreated from the border areas after the infiltration by the Kabul government.

Earlier yesterday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that the closure of the border is temporary and there will be some progress in the coming days.

On the other hand, sources have also revealed that the Afghan government has indicated action against Pakistan against those who use its territory.

Assurances provided by the Afghan Interim Government’s Foreign Minister Maulvi Amir Khan Muttaqi assured that “Afghan soil will not be used for operations against Pakistan” and requested the opening of the border on humanitarian grounds, which But Pakistan had agreed.
