Lahore: On the instructions of the caretaker Punjab government, the Labor Department started a crackdown to end child labor and arrested 15 people for violating the laws.
According to Express News, the provincial government has imposed a complete ban on child labor under the age of 15, after which the labor department has started a crackdown to eliminate child labor in the province.
The Labor Department registered 50 FIRs for violation of labor laws and arrested 15 people, and 20 children recovered during these operations were sent to the School Education Department, Literacy Department and Child Protection Department for a secure future and education. Referred to Protection Department.
Special Child Labor Compliance Cells have been established at division and district level by the Labor Department to eliminate child labour.
Labor Secretary Faisal Farid has ordered labor directors to submit progress reports on daily basis and field officers to spread awareness against child labor at local level along with crackdown.
The Labor Secretary has also directed officers to set up a dedicated helpline for the public to lodge complaints against child labour.
Faisal Farid says that children are the future of the nation, safe environment and education is their basic right.
