Army Act and Official Secrets Act challenged in Supreme Court

Islamabad: The Sindh Bar Council challenged the Army Act and the Official Secrets Act in the Supreme Court.

On the issue of President Arif Alvi not signing the Army Act and the Official Secrets Act, the Sindh Bar Council challenged both laws in the Supreme Court.

The petition contended that both the Acts were not signed by the President and hence both the Acts should be declared unconstitutional, Official Secrets Act, Army Amendment Act contravening fundamental human rights.

In the petition, it has been requested that the Official Secrets Act, Army Amendment Act Bills should be declared null and void on the basis of non-signing of the President of the State, and the cases against all the suspects arrested in light of the incidents of May 9 and May 10 should be tried in ordinary courts.
