A viral challenge on Tik Tok took the life of a student

A viral spicy chips eating challenge on Tik Tok claimed the life of a 14-year-old student.

According to media reports, a 10th grade student died last Friday at a high school in the US state of Massachusetts, allegedly after participating in the ‘One Chip Challenge’.

The One Chip Challenge is going viral these days on the video sharing app Tik Tok in which spicy chips from a company called ‘Pakui’ are to be eaten.

The company challenges people to refrain from eating or drinking anything after eating the snack to reduce the effect of the chilies in order to test their tolerance.

14-year-old Harris was asked to do the challenge by a friend at school, after which he allegedly ate the super-spicy chips given to him by his friend, which caused him to develop stomach aches.

According to the youth’s mother, she received a call from the school after her son’s condition worsened, after which she brought him home. Harris began to feel better after a while.

The mother said that he was planning to go out to play basketball when his health worsened and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

A warning on the Challenge’s promotional website states that the chips are for adults only, while also advising to seek medical attention if breathing difficulties, fainting or nausea occur after eating them. .

The police have started the investigation regarding the death of the youth, but the cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.
