According to sources, Vice Chancellor of Dawood Engineering University Samreen Hussain also became a victim of cybercrime, online fraudsters deprived her of Rs 45 lakh. Vice Chancellor has applied to FIA Cybercrime Karachi against unauthorized transactions.
According to the request made by Samreen Hussain, a call was received from a bank’s helpline number on 29th August, the website link was shared during the call, the helpline agent introduced himself as a representative of State Bank.
According to Samreen Hussain, the caller already had all the information, after the call an unauthorized transaction was made from his account, the transaction notification was also received on the mobile phone.
The Vice-Chancellor has requested the cybercrime circle to track down the fraudsters and punish them, and also return the transaction of Rs. 45 lakhs from their account.
