Caretaker Punjab government sacked heads of Arts Council Faisalabad and Gujranwala. Both the heads failed to stop obscene dances in theatres.
Caretaker Minister for Information and Culture Punjab Aamir Mir has dismissed the heads of Arts Council Faisalabad and Gujranwala while taking strict action against obscene dances. In Faisalabad and Gujranwala theaters showing obscene dances were also closed.
Aamir Mir said in a statement that the two heads of the Arts Council were protecting the mafia spreading obscenity in the name of art. New officers have been appointed in place of the sacked chiefs.
He said that instructions have been issued to the heads of arts councils across Punjab for strict monitoring of stage plays. Strict action will be taken in case of complaint.
Aamir Mir said that the Dramatic Performance Act 1876 is being amended after which all theaters will be opened.
