Karachi: Appointment disputes in higher educational institutions also came to the courts, a notice was issued to Director ICCBS Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry against his extension.
The Sindh High Court has issued notices to 17 parties, including Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry, for September 20 on the petition against the extension of the tenure of the director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS).
In the High Court, a hearing was held on an application against the extension of the employment of the Director of the International Center of Chemical and Biological, University of Karachi.
The lawyer of the petitioner stated that Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry has been holding this position for 17 years continuously, Iqbal Chaudhry retired in 2019 but his employment was extended, on 26th July 2023, advertisement was again published in newspapers for this post. Gaya, Umar’s age was not mentioned in the ad, the incumbent Iqbal Chaudhry prepared it for himself.
The petitioner further submitted that as per the judgment of the High Courts and the law, the retiree cannot be re-employed, the execution of the advertisement should be stopped and it should be declared illegal.
The court issued notices to 17 parties including Dr. Iqbal Chaudhry for September 20. 5 employees of University of Karachi, including Nadeem Ahmed, have challenged the advertisement for the appointment of Director ICCBS.
