Over-recovery at petrol pumps despite price hike

Rates have been fixed in excess of the fixed rate in the machines of petrol pumps

Karachi: Despite the huge increase in the price of petroleum products by the government, more than the prescribed rate is being charged at the petrol pumps.

After the price hike, the fixed price of petrol is Rs 305.36 while petrol is being sold at Rs 306.15 per liter at the pumps. The petrol pump staff is charging 79 paise more than the actual price.

Similarly, the price of diesel has increased to Rs 311.84 per liter while it is being sold at Rs 312.63 per liter at petrol pumps, thus 79 paise extra is being charged on diesel as well.

There are also incidents of bitterness between customers and staff due to arbitrary and extra charge of petrol pump owners. On the other hand, managers of petrol pumps are of the opinion that extra money is being collected in the form of transport charges.
