HEC has barred all universities from contracting with international NGOs

Karachi: The Higher Education Commission banned all universities in the country from directly contracting with international NGOs.

The Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has issued an advisory to all universities and other institutions providing higher education, in which it is said that agreements are made with international institutions regarding various programs, especially there on political issues. The debate continues.

According to the advisory, no good message is being sent about Pakistan in the world from such a program and the Department of Foreign Affairs has expressed its concerns on this, so such activities should be stopped.

The advisory emphasized that no such agreement or activity should be done without the permission of the concerned Ministry and the Department of Foreign Affairs. In this regard, Chairman of Higher Education Commission, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, when contacted by Express, said that this is for the employees of government institutions, many people do not work according to the law, where there is a question of national interest, we have to look.

He further said that the political situation of the country is not special, therefore, if any organization has any kind of contact with anyone, it is necessary to inform the concerned minister first, this will not affect their autonomy, because they They have not been prohibited, but they have been asked to act in a manner so that there is no fear of any kind of problems for the country.
