Dispute over transfer of officers in Sindh Government and Election Commission

Caretaker Sindh government reluctant to transfer Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs

Karachi: A dispute arose between the Sindh government and the Election Commission in charge of the transfer of officers in Sindh.

The Election Commission has written a letter to the caretaker Sindh government for not transferring the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs and other officers.

Why no list of transfer of officers has been provided till now while on the other hand the caretaker Sindh government is completely silent on it.

Sources have claimed that the election schedule has not yet been announced, and the officers can continue to work until the Election Commission announces the election schedule.

On the other hand, GDA has also raised questions on the transfer of officers. The Grand Democratic Alliance has written a letter to the Election Commission and said that only the IG and the Chief Secretary have been changed after the Sindh government of the People’s Party in Sindh, while the Commissioner-Deputy Commissioner. Additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs and other officers are posted by the Sindh government who have not been transferred so far.

The Election Commission should use its constitutional powers in this regard to ensure the transfer of officers. After the GDA’s letter, the Election Commission has also written a letter to the caretaker Sindh government.
