Senior Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has revealed his mother’s reaction to his wife, actress Ratna Pathak’s non-acceptance of Islam.

Naseeruddin Shah and his wife Ratna Pathak are one of the most successful couples of Bollywood, the couple met at the National School of Drama where they fell in love while learning the art of acting.

Despite belonging to different religious beliefs, Naseeruddin and Ratna are living a pretty happy life, the couple got married in 1982, they have two sons, Imad and Vivaan.

Naseeruddin Shah recently published an open letter in collaboration with National Herald in which he revealed sensational stories about his personal life, especially his interfaith marriage with Ratna Pathak.

The talented actor has told how his mother was surprised at first why Ratna did not change her religion after marriage. But later he voluntarily expressed his love for Ratna and accepted the son’s marriage to a Hindu woman.

Regarding this subject, Naseeruddin Shah has to say in his open letter that my mother only once questioned my wife Ratna’s non-acceptance of Islam. Can be changed,’ and then accepted Ratna.

The actor says that there was no compulsion for me to marry a Hindu girl, nor did I hesitate.

Naseeruddin had once revealed in his old interview that Ratna’s parents thought I was a drug addict.

In his interview with the Indian media ‘Humans of Bombay’, Naseeruddin Shah said that his wife, Ratna Pathak’s parents thought of him as a drug addict and bad-tempered person.

Moreover, Ratna’s parents were not in favor of their daughter’s marriage with Naseeruddin Shah, the main reason being that the actor was already divorced, yet actress Ratna convinced her family to marry Naseeruddin Shah and gave her Don’t back down from the decision.
