PCB central contract announcement for 20 women cricketers

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced giving central contract to 20 women cricketers for about 2 years.

The announcement issued by the board said that Anush Nasir, Iman Fatima, Shawal Zulfikar and Umm Hani are the first time players to get central contract.

The duration of the central contract will be for 23 months starting from August 1 to June 2025 while the performance of the players will be reviewed after one year.

The contracts were handed over to the players during the ongoing South Africa series camp in Karachi which they signed. Last year also 20 cricketers were given central contract, these cricketers are divided into four categories A, B, C and D, D category will get the status of emerging category.

Skipper Nida Dar and Bisma Maruf have retained their place in the A category, second highest run-scorers in the ICC Women’s Championship with 535 runs, while Sidra Amin Central contracts from the C category to the A category. have come

The board has also increased the remuneration of select women’s cricketers in the A category by 19%.

The remuneration of B category has been increased by 32%, this category includes 4 cricketers Muniba Ali, Fatima Sana, Nashera Sindhu and Alia Riaz. In the C category, wicketkeeper Sudra Nawaz has retained her place while Ghulam Fatima and Sadia Iqbal have been promoted from D to C. Diana Baig who was earlier in B category is now in C category. She was out of the team for most of last year due to shoulder and finger injuries.

Umeema Sohail has also moved from B to C category after demotion, the remuneration of C category has been increased by 19%.

In the D category, which is called the emerging category, which includes 8 cricketers, leg-spinner Tobi Hasan and left-arm batsman Sadaf Shams have retained their place. In this category, left-arm spinner Anush Nasir and batsmen Iman Fatima and Shawal Zulfiqar have got the contract for the first time.

Najiha Alvi and Umm Hani are also part of the D category, Syeda Aroob Shah has once again made it to the central contract, she was the captain of the Pakistan team in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Similarly, the board has increased the remuneration of D category by 21%.

On the other hand, Anam Amin, Gul Feroza, Iram Javed, Jawaria Khan and Kainat Imtiaz have failed to get the central contract and all five have been given domestic contracts while Ayesha Naseem has retired.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has increased the match fee of the players (both playing and non-playing) by 100% in ODI, while the match fee of T20 International has been increased by 50% for both playing and non-playing players.
