New Delhi: An officer in an army base in the Indian state of Odisha ended his life by hanging from the ceiling of the washroom.
According to Indian media, the officer who committed suicide has been identified as Ramesh, who was a sub-inspector in the paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force.
Ramesh had gone to the washroom after taking a bath in the morning and did not come out even after a long time, then the fellow officials knocked on the door, after getting no response they broke the door and entered and found the body hanging from the ceiling.
Colleagues rushed Ramesh to a nearby military hospital where doctors declared him dead. The body was sent to the native village after necessary procedures.
The reason for the official’s suicide has not been revealed. A spokesperson of the Central Reserve Police Force says that an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
It should be noted that due to lack of courage, mental stress and abusive behavior of officers, suicide incidents are common among military personnel in India, while many officers have been killed in mutual conflicts.
